A few years ago, Atlanta Public Schools was looking for an alternative program to provide students the flexibility they needed to graduate. Whether students had full schedules, couldn’t take classes during the day, needed accelerated classes, or had credit deficiencies, Atlanta Virtual Academy (AVA) was designed and built to offer them an online option with all of the benefits of being a part of a regular school.
A rigorous curriculum paired with AVA’s dedicated teachers gives students the framework they need to not only show competence on end-of-course exams but also learn time management and organization skills. Students say the experience taught them discipline, strength, and responsibility because “it’s all on you. There’s no excuse for failure.”
But don’t take it from us—watch the students, parents, and educators of AVA discuss how their program increased student success with online learning within Atlanta Public Schools.
